Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. If you are concerned about your BMI number, please contact your doctor.

BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obese = 30-34.9
Severly Obese = 35 – 39.9
Morbidly Obese = 40+

Referring a patient to the Winchester Medical Center Bariatric Program

1. All patients interested in pursuing bariatric surgery or medical weight loss must register and attend a patient information session. This is the very first step in the process.
2. The medical information sessions are held once a month in the Bariatric office at 347 Westside Station Drive, Winchester, Virginia 22601. This presentation is given by our medical physician and one of our dietitians.
    
3. The surgical sessions are held two Thursdays a month in the WMC conference center at 1840 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia 22601. The presentation is given by either Dr. Glembot or Dr. Wiedower.
4. The patient or the office staff can call (540) 536-0010 to register the patient in the Bariatric Program, or the patient can register online by clicking here.
5. All patients interested in attending the surgical information session will be requested to bring a copy of their driver's licenses and insurance cards if applicable
