Janet's Story

In the past, I would do well losing weight on my own. But after a period of time, it always came back. At my heaviest I was exhausted every minute of the day. I was frustrated and depressed and my health problems were growing. I had become pre-hypertensive, insulin resistant and suffered from sleep apnea, back pain and pedal edema. I hit a point where I needed a permanent change.

I had just moved from New York to this area and discovered the Bariatric Program at Winchester Medical Center. After learning about all they had to offer, I decided to have the Lap Band procedure and today I feel great! Although I still experience some back trouble, all my other health problems have disappeared. I'm 46 and I feel better than I did when I was 36. I exercise five days a week religiously. I eat the way I should and even see myself turning down certain foods without even thinking about it. For once, I have more energy than my kids. Although I had no problems during recovery, I had one complication with the band slipping-but even that wasn't a big deal in my opinion. It was just a small set back in the process. I would do it all again if I had to.

If you're considering the procedure and know you're a good candidate, then I say do it! Absolutely! It will change your life. And everyone in the Bariatric Program is wonderful. I never once felt judged.
